Wedding Eve…
Here it is, the day before I get married. On the cusp of Year Zero. I’ve packed up about 95% of my life and moved it into our new apartment in Franklin. I just slept the last night in Plymouth, as tonight we stay at the hotel in Leominster after the rehearsal dinner.
I haven’t written in this blog for weeks. I’ve been very busy with work, wedding, and apartment stuff, and not a whole lot of fitness-related activity has gone on. In fact, I haven’t worked out in over 2 weeks. The dance lessons and apartment stuff really threw me off, the two-day hangover I had from my bachelor party was brutal, and I was not able to get back into the routine in time for the wedding. In a way I’m very disappointed in myself, because I worked so hard since last year when I started this new blog format, and then two weeks before the day I’ve been training so hard for, I limp to the finish line. I weighed myself a couple days ago and I’m still 195, but I’ve definitely gained a little more fat around my stomach and face and I feel very out of shape. As much as I believe in the Turbulence Training workouts (because I do think they are great, Craig), I wish I had stuck with the momentum of the Physique Formula. I don’t handle change well, and I wasn’t able to be strict on my diet. It snowballed to the point that even though I technically had the time to work out (or at the very least go for a walk), I didn’t want to. I haven’t undone all my progress, but I imagined myself being in better shape for the wedding than this.
However, I know that all my fitness goals were not centered on this one day like I first envisioned. I want to be fit for life, not for one day. Two weeks do not make or break health or fitness, and once we get back from the honeymoon, I’ll be back on track. I’m extremely excited for what is coming up. We have a wonderful rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, and breakfast for everyone to enjoy, so that is where my focus is. Our honeymoon in St. Lucia is all-enclusive, and I plan on eating and drinking what I want.
Once we get back, I’m going to join a Gold’s Gym in Foxboro, definitely a better atmosphere than where I’ve been going for the past year (dumbbells over 60 lbs would be nice). I won’t have to throw my diet out the window on weekends like I did when I visisted Jaylynn, and I’ll also have those weekend mornings open to go to the gym, too, in case I don’t make it during the week. I haven’t decided what program to do when I get back (definitely a size/strength program, either back to the Physique Formula or Eric Cressey’s Maximum Strength). I’ll have a much more consistent life schedule and therefore a more consistent workout and diet schedule. No more driving to Berlin and Worcester in the middle of the week and no more living out of a suitcase.
In any case, I need to go to the apartment to bring more stuff, then to pick up the tuxes with Ethan. Starting tomorrow I’ll be wearing a ring on my finger and referring to Jaylynn as “the wife.” Pretty crazy.
Thanks to everyone who has been our friend and supported us over the years, we appreciate everything. Wish us luck!
